Eastern’s 2-1 MAC record tied for second

OXFORD, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – After winning its first two Mid-American Conference matches, the Eastern Michigan University soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Miami University Thursday, Sept. 25, at Bobby Kramig Field, incurring its first loss of MAC play this season.

The RedHawks netted the match's lone goal in the 15th minute as EMU outshot the hosts, 9-7.

Eastern, which sits in a four-way tie for second in the MAC following Thursday's action, was 2-0-0 in conference play for the first time since 2014.

How It Happened
After sophomore Ciara Brown (Wyandanch, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West/Auburn) took the contest's first shot at the 1:07 mark, Miami controlled the match's next 15 minutes, tallying the next three shots, including a goal in the 15th minute.

Redshirt sophomore Josie Langhans (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie West) and sophomore Maya Marolly (Montreal, Québec/Ecole Secondarie Des Sources/St. Bonaventure) also had shots on goal in the first half.

Eastern ramped up its offensive pressure in the second half, holding a 5-3 advantage in shots for the half while generating five corner kicks in the final 45 minutes. Despite the increased scoring opportunities, EMU was unable to find the equalizer.

Both teams battled to the end in the match, combining for four yellow cards in a span of 2:37 in the closing minutes of the contest.
