Eagles continue to raise the bar with two more department-record GPAs in 2024-25
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The 2024-25 academic year showcased another outstanding pair of semesters in the classroom for Eastern Michigan University student-athletes as the Eagles twice broke the department record for cumulative grade-point average while all 19 varsity programs finished the year with a 3.0 GPA or better.

- EMU student-athletes achieved a department-record 3.472 cumulative GPA following Winter 2025—marking the 31st consecutive semester above a 3.0 GPA.
- Winter 2025 semester GPA was 3.465, the highest single-term GPA ever recorded by the department (records date back to Fall 1999).
- 57 student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 GPAs in Fall 2024 and 86 student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 GPAs in Winter 2025.
- 83.5% of student-athletes (400 of 479) earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the Winter Semester.
- All 19 varsity teams posted cumulative GPAs above 3.0 at the end of the academic year, and 82% of student-athletes maintained a cumulative GPA at or above that threshold.
- Three teams earned perfect multi-year APR scores of 1,000: Men's Cross Country, Women's Golf, Women's Tennis
- Eight teams had perfect single-year APR scores of 1,000 in 2023–24, including: Men's & Women's Cross Country, Men's Basketball, Women's Tennis, Women's Golf, Lacrosse, Gymnastics, and Track & Field
- 11 EMU teams improved or maintained multi-year APR scores, with: Football rising from 968 → 977; Women's Golf improving from 992 → 1000; Rowing and Gymnastics each gaining 5 points
- Five teams ranked in the top half of the MAC in multi-year APR performance.
- For MAC honors, EMU racked up 161 Academic All-MAC awards.
- A total of five EMU standouts were selected for the prestigious weekly MAC Scholar-Athlete Award, including the first two in lacrosse program history.
- In total, 47 EMU student-athletes earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
- The Lacrosse was honored as the IWLCA Academic Merit Squad for the second consecutive year as the team's 3.79 GPA stood as the highest in the nation among all NCAA Division I women's teams.
- Women's Swimming & Diving earned team recognition for academic excellence-CSCAA Scholar All-America Team
- Kendal Bonney (Volleyball) was a national recipient for the AVCA Demonstrator Scholarship
- NFF Hampshire Honor Society: 12 Football Seniors Honored for meeting high academic achievement and graduation standards
- USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors: 2024 Men's & Women's Cross Country teams were both recognized nationally
