– The Eastern Michigan University swim & dive team finished the second day of the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships, hosted by the University at Buffalo, at the Dorsi Raynolds Pool Thursday, Feb. 27. The Eagles stand seventh after day two with 92 points.

In total, the Eagles tabbed four personal-bests marks and 13 season-bests on the first and second days of action.

How it Happened – Day One
The opening night of competition consisted of just two events, the 200y medley relay and 800y freestyle relay. The Eagles placed sixth in both events while swimming season-best (SB) times, most notably in the 800y freestyle relay, where the team of Azra Umut (Istanbul, Turkey/Fenerbahce), Emma Littrell (Taylor Mill, Ky./St. Henry District), Nehir Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/Cevre), and Kiersten Russell (Clinton, Mich./Saline) swam a SB 7:23.45, 15.76 seconds faster than their previous season best at the Denison Invitational, Dec. 5-7.

Siporah Sang (London, Ontario/Sir Frederick Banting Secondary), Nina Larosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay), Tristen Mina (Santa Clara, Calif./The King's Academy), and Lucy Noble (Flagler Beach, Fla./Flagler Palm Coast) shaved 2.32 seconds off their best 200y medley relay time (Michigan First Chance Meet, Feb. 15-16), touching the wall in 1:41.13.

The Eagles scored 26 points in each relay, bringing their total to 52 points after day one, standing sixth.

How it Happened – Day Two
Individually, three swimmers punched their tickets to the finals with top 16 finishes in the prelims session, all coming in the 500y freestyle. Ashley George (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha) led the pack, placing 12th in a season-best 5:00.00. She was immediately trailed by Umut in 13th (5:00.54), and Russell in 14th (5:01.49). Despite just three Eagles making the finals cut, Eastern tabbed 11 season-best times in the prelims.

Megan Lupa (Campden, Ontario/West Niagara Secondary) earned the Eagles' top finish on the boards, placing 10th in the 1m dive prelims with 237.25 points. Ciara Wheeler (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) had Eastern's best showing in the 1m consolation finals, slotting fifth with 232.70 points.

Umut led the Eagles in the 500y freestyle B finals, placing 10th and setting a collegiate personal best in 4:54.85. Russell and George followed as Russell improved her prelims placing from 14th to 12th, finishing in a season-best 4:58.63. George bettered her season-best time from the prelims, shaving .83 seconds off, touching the wall in 4:59.17. Eastern collected a total of 16 points in the event.

The night concluded with the 400y medley relay, where Umut, Larosa, Mina, and Russell placed seventh in a SB 3:42.93, scoring 24 points.
