Chemotti, Brushwood Shine in Gymnastics’ Meet at Central Michigan

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Senior Ella Chemotti posted a 9.925 on beam, the program's fourth-best score ever in the event, and sophomore Abby Brushwood continued her superb efforts on floor, posting a career-high 9.875 as the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team fell against Central Michigan Friday, Feb. 14, 195.625-194.150, inside McGuirk Arena.
Chemotti (Canton, Mich./Canton) became the first gymnast in EMU history to have four scores of 9.925 or higher on beam in her career as her 9.925 Friday is tied for the fourth-best mark in program history in the event, falling .025 points shy of her career high 9.950, set in 2022.
Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area) has scored 9.800 or higher in five-straight meets on floor, tallying a 9.850 or higher in four of those five meets.
How It Happened
Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) recorded the Eagles' top all-around effort, finishing second by accumulating 38.625 points.
Analiah Solorio (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield Senior) produced the Green and White's top result on bars by equaling her career high with a 9.800. Lowe added a 9.725 and Chemotti registered 9.700 apiece as Eastern scored 48.300 to open the meet.
On vault, Alana Fisher (Athens. Ala./Alabama Connections Academy) led EMU with a 9.725 while Gwendelyn Cantu (Joilet, Ill./Providence Catholic) had Eastern's second-best score in the event by earning 9.650 points as the Eagles tallied 47.925 points in the event.
Led by Brushwood's career-high 9.875 on floor, Eastern collected 48.900 points in the event as Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) also had an impressive 9.8250 effort to tie for third. Lowe recorded a 9.800 for the Eagles' third-best score of night on floor.
Chemotti shined on beam, tallying her season-high 9.925 to win the event. Boris recorded a 9.850 to place second while Fisher posted a 9.800 to help Eastern total 49.025 on beam, its top mark in any event this season.
