Four Eagles Reach Double-Digits as Eastern Falls to Akron

Eastern travels to Central Michigan Tuesday, Jan. 14, for next game
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Four Eagles surpassed 10 points as the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team fell, 105-81, to Akron Saturday, Jan. 11, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
Christian Henry (Chicago, Ill./The Skill Factory/Panola College) scored 22 points, Da'Sean Nelson (Toledo, Ohio/Robert S. Rogers/Kilgore College/DePaul) netted 16 points, sophomore Arne Osojnik (Ljubljana, Slovenia/Dream City Christian) had 15 points, and Jalen Terry (Flint, Mich. Beecher/Oregon/DePaul) tallied 12 points as four EMU players reached double-digit points for the sixth time this season.
How it Happened
Helped by a 3-for-3 start from three-point range, Eastern jumped out to an 11-4 advantage in what was a fast-paced contest.
Akron responded with a 27-11 run to take control of the game before taking a 54-38 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, the Zips expanded their lead to as many as 24 at 85-61 with 7:29 to go prior to finishing with 105 points, the most scored by an EMU foe in facility history.

» Eastern moved to 7-8 overall and 1-2 in the MAC while Akron moved to 10-5 overall and 3-0 in conference action.
» Eastern Michigan was 28-of-63 (44.4%) from the floor and 9-of-28 (32.1%) from three-point range while Akron was 37-of-61 (60.7%) from the field and 9-of-21 (42.9%) from deep.
» EMU connected on five of their 11 first half three's (45.5%) marking their fourth game on the season shooting 40% or higher from behind the arc in the first half.
» The Eagles scored 81 points, marking the fifth time they have eclipsed 80 points, already three more times than last season.
» Osojnik's 15 points was one point short of his season high of 16 points, set at Oakland, Nov. 21.

» Henry tied a career high and led the team with three steals. This the fifth time this season he has led the team in scoring (led both teams three times) and fourth time he has led the team in both scoring and steals.
» Nelson has 10-straight games with at least 10 points for the first time in his career. Overall, Nelson has 39 career games in double figures.
» Nelson also added four assists, matching his season high.
» With his 12 points, Terry has nine games in double figures this season and 34 such games in his career.
» With three made three-pointers, Henry has converted at least one three-pointer in each of the last 10 games.
» Henry's 20 points marked his 11th career game scoring at least 10 points and fourth with at least 20.
