Peterson Tabbed MAC Runner of the Week

The junior placed third at the Jeff Drenth Memorial in 14:56.9, Aug. 30
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced Eastern Michigan men's cross country student-athlete Sam Peterson as the MAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The honor marks the first of Peterson's (Charlevoix, Mich./Charlevoix) career, and comes after he led the Eagles to a first-place finish (31 points) at the 39th Annual Jeff Drenth Memorial, hosted by Central Michigan University, Aug. 30. At the Drenth, Peterson placed third in the 5K in a personal-best 14:56.9. Additionally, he was the highest placing MAC finisher of the race.
The honor continues the strong start to the Head Coach Austin Whitelaw era, as the Eagles have now captured the conference's weekly individual honor after placing first at their opening meet of the 2024 campaign.
