YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics has announced a collaboration with Eastern Market Brewing Co., located in the heart of Detroit's Eastern Market. This dynamic partnership will bring a specially crafted, co-branded beer to EMU fans just in time for the fall sports season, and the fans themselves will have the opportunity to name the brew.
The beer, a crisp and clean American lager with a 4.5% ABV, will be made exclusively for Eastern Michigan University to honor the school's rich traditions, its passionate fan base, and the vibrant community of Ypsilanti. EMBC's EMU beer will be officially licensed through CLC, Eastern's licensing partner, and will be available for purchase inside Rynearson Stadium, the George Gervin GameAbove Center, and other select locations across the region.
"We are thrilled to partner with Eastern Market Brewing Co. to create something that unites our fans both on and off the field," said EMU Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee. "This collaboration is more than just a beverage; it's a celebration of EMU pride and a symbol of our deep connection to the community. We can't wait to see our fans enjoying this special lager at games, tailgates, and throughout southeastern Michigan this fall."
Eastern Market Brewing Co., known for its innovative and community-focused approach to brewing, has developed this special beer with EMU fans in mind.
EMU fans can now participate in the naming process by voting on one of five potential names for the Official EMU Athletics beer:
1. EM-Brew
2. Water Tower Power
3. Ypsi-Lager
4. Hats Off To Brew
5. 1849 Lager
Voting is open to the public and will be available online at app.emueagles.com/NameTheEMBCBeer . The winning name will be announced later this fall, just in time for the beer's official release.
