Shved and Brichackova battle to singles wins for the Eagles on the road
DeKALB, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team dropped a 5-2 Mid-American Conference match on the road at Northern Illinois University Friday, April 5. The Eagles (8-9, 2-3 MAC) won a pair of singles matches as the Huskies (13-8, 2-3 MAC) claimed the team win.
How It Happened
The Huskies took an early 1-0 lead as they secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. In singles play, Daniella Shved (Holon, Israel/Ort Holon) got the Eagles on the board as she swept her way to a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles. After falling in the next four matches, Sabina Brichackova (Cheb, Czech Republic/Gymnázium Jana Blahoslava battled her way to a three-set victory to close out the loss on a high note as she came from behind to win, 1-6, 6-1, 1-0(7).

›› Eastern fell to 8-9 overall and 2-3 in MAC play while Northern Illinois improved to 13-8 overall and 2-3 in the MAC.
›› The Eagles have yet to win on the road this season, holding an 8-0 record at home and a 0-9 mark on the road.
›› Daniella Shved posted her second over win Erika Dimitriev in one week after defeating her NIU foe, 6-3, 7-6(4) last week in Ypsilanti.
