EMU and Detroit Mercy Athletics Join Forces for Winter Clothes Drive

Celebrate the Spirit of Competition and Holiday Giving This Season
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics and the University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics are teaming up to make a difference this holiday season through the Winter Clothes Drive. In the spirit of competition and community, the two schools will collect coats, scarves, hats, and gloves to benefit local families in need.
The drive will coincide with two highly anticipated basketball matchups:
• EMU Women's Basketball travels to Calihan Hall to face Detroit Mercy on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 7 p.m.
• EMU Men's Basketball hosts Detroit Mercy on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
As a special incentive, fans who bring a new or gently worn winter clothing item to either game will receive a free ticket to that game. (One donated item equals one ticket.)
Supporting Local Families and Youth in Need
Items donated at EMU will support Ozone House, a vital nonprofit organization based in Washtenaw County that has provided support to homeless and at-risk youth since 1969. Each year, Ozone House serves approximately 1,300 homeless youth in the area, offering them a safe haven and the resources to lead productive and healthy lives.
How to Participate
• Bring Donations: Drop off winter clothing at either game to receive a free game ticket.
• Spread the Word: Share this opportunity to help local youth stay warm this winter.
This collaboration between EMU and UDM Athletics not only celebrates the competitive spirit on the court but also underscores the shared commitment to uplifting the community during the holiday season.
