EMU Falls to MAC-Leading Akron

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team dropped a 77-46 decision to the University of Akron Tuesday, Jan. 30, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
How It Happened
Akron came out hot in the opening half, taking a commanding 42-23 lead into the locker room.
The Zips extended their advantage to as many as 32 at 74-42 with 2:18 remaining in the contest.
Game Notes
» Eastern moved to 9-12 overall and 2-7 in Mid-American Conference play while Akron moved to 16-5 overall and 8-1 in the MAC.
» Eastern Michigan was 18-of-50 (36.0%) from the floor and 2-of-19 (10.5%) from three-point range while Akron was 32-of-64 (50.0%) from the field and 6-of-25 (24.0%) from deep.
» Acuff scored a team-high 12 points, marking his 23rd-straight game scoring at least 11 points. Acuff ranks 47th in EMU history with 851 points as an Eagle. Acuff passes John Bowler (2005-06) for the most consecutive games scoring at least 10 points by an EMU player since 2000.
» Sophomore Orlando Lovejoy (Detroit, Mich./Summit Academy North), who scored 12 points, recorded his eighth game with double-digit points this season. He had a streak of 10-straight games with at least one steal that was snapped against the Zips.
» Freshman Arne Osojnik (Ljublana, Slovenia/Dream City Christian), who made two triples, netted multiple three-pointers for the 11th time this season.
» Redshirt sophomore Javantae Randle (Detroit, Mich./Frederick Douglas) made his third start of the season.
» Redshirt freshman Derik Pranger (Parker, Colo./Colorado Prep) made his first appearance since playing at the University of Michigan, Dec. 16.
» Junior Andrew Wells (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) made his first appearance since playing at Ohio University, Jan. 20.
» Eastern, which hit two threes against Akron, has now hit at least one triple in 603-straight games. EMU last failed to score from downtown Jan. 24, 2004, when Miami University held the Eagles to 0-of-7 from behind the arc.

» Tuesday's meeting was the 60th all-time between Eastern Michigan and Akron. EMU trails in the series, 37-23.
