YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Meagan Lukowski (Bay City, Mich./Bay City Western)
netted her team-leading third goal of the year and Rebecca Przybylo (Canton, Mich./Plymouth) made several incredible saves to help the Eastern Michigan University soccer team (0-4-4) to a 1-1 draw over visiting Valparaiso University (4-2-2) Sunday, Sept. 10. The match served as Senior Day for Przybylo and Tiffanie Hollingsworth (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon East) with a halftime celebration honoring the duo at midfield of Scicluna Field.

How It Happened
Despite a hectic first half that featured 19 total fouls and four yellow cards, the Eagles held the lead on the scoreboard through the first 45 minutes of play. Eastern broke into the scoring column in the 29' with Lukowski scoring from close range. On the play, freshman Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio/Medina) won the ball and moved into the box on the right side where she paused before sliding a cross through traffic to a cutting Lukowski, who hit it home to make it 1-0. The pass from Sipsock gave the rookie her first collegiate assist and saw her join fellow classmate Kate Robinson (Madison Heights, Mich./Lamphere) as the only two players on the team with at least one goal and one assist to their credit.

The Eagles maintained control of the match throughout much of the second half, but a goal in the 86' helped the visiting Beacons steal the draw in the waning minutes of play. On the play, Valparaiso sent the ball into the area where it bounced off several players before Allie Anderson was able to hit a half-volley shot for the goal and the eventual draw.

Game Notes
» Eastern moved to 0-4-4 on the year with the 1-1 result being the first draw that has not ended at 2-2 this year.
» Lukowski is the team's leader with her third goal of the campaign, leaving her one shy of equaling her career-high four goals scored last year.
» The assist for Sipsock marked her first collegiate assist. The rookie now has five points on two goals and one assist, moving her into third on the team in scoring.
» Przybylo earned her second start of the season and posted four saves in the match.

Historical Notes
» Eastern holds a 5-1-1 advantage in the all-time series with Valparaiso.
» The 1-1 draw halted the Eagles' five-match winning streak, but still has EMU undefeated in its last six with the Beacons.
» Despite the tie, Eastern has scored at least one goal in all seven meetings in the series.
