EAST LANSING, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) --
The Eastern Michigan University soccer team fell on the road, 6-0, at Michigan State University Thursday, Aug. 31, at DeMartin Stadium in East Lansing, Mich. The Eagle (0-3-2) fell behind, 4-0, at halftime despite Rebecca Przybylo (Canton, Mich./Plymouth) recording a career-high-tying nine saves in the opening half against the Spartans (4-1-0), who were receiving votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25 after falling from No. 14.

How It Happened
The hosts came out on the front foot and applied pressure throughout the half, launching 23 shots in total, including 12 on frame. MSU opened the scoring in the 14' before quickly doubling their lead with a second goal in the 16'. It was rapid-fire scoring later in the half that doubled the advantage as Mackenzie Anthony scored her second of the night at the 28' mark before completing the hat trick in the 29'.

Eastern settled in and cleared the defensive third better to open the second half, but the Spartans tallied again in the 79' in the run of play before adding their final goal in the 82' from the penalty spot. All told, MSU held a 35-2 advantage on the night in shots, including 17-1 in shots on goal. The Eagles recorded 11 saves with Ella Holland (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody/Samford) adding a pair of stops in the second half.

Game Notes
» Eastern fell to 0-3-2 on the year following the loss.
» Michigan State was ranked No. 14 nationally last week according to the United Soccer Coaches before a 2-0 loss at Colorado saw them drop out of the top 25 and into the receiving votes category.
» Przybylo's nine saves tied her career-high she set twice with the most recent coming Oct. 16, 2022, in a win at Western Michigan University.
» The 11 combined saves for the Eagle keepers are the most since Chelsea Abbotts stopped 12 shots in a 3-0 road loss to Bowling Green State University, Oct. 14, 2021.
» Meagan Lukowski (Bay City, Mich./Bay City Western) and Secora Johnson (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) were the two Eagles credited with shots in the game.
» Hannah Thompson (Schoolcraft, Mich./Schoolcraft) made her season debut in the first half, logging 19 minutes in total.

Historical Notes
» With the loss, the Eagles are now 1-15-3 all-time against the Spartans and have lost seven in a row in the series.
» The deficit (six goals) and goals scored (six) marked the most for either team in the series, surpassing the five scored by MSU in a 5-2 win, Sept. 6, 1998, and the Spartans' 4-0 win at home, Sept. 3, 2010.

Next Up
