Luke Russo Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

The right handed pitcher was outstanding in a win over Miami, April 9

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University baseball student-athlete Luke Russo (Howell, Mich.-Howell) was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today, April 12.

Russo provided the Eagles seven nearly scoreless innings in their 8-1 victory over the Miami University RedHawks, Sunday, April 9. Russo posted a 1.29 ERA to go with nine strikeouts, and allowed just two hits on one earned run, while being credited with the win. The Howell, Mich. native is now 4-1 on the 2023 campaign, the best win-loss record on the team. Furthermore, Russo's nine strikeouts are a season-high for both himself and the Eastern pitching staff overall.

Russo and the Eagles are back in action tonight at 6 p.m. First pitch against Western Michigan University is set for 6 p.m. inside Oestrike Stadium.
