Swim and Dive Defeated by Indiana State

MEET RESULTS
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive team was defeated by the Indiana State University Sycamores, 204-96, Nov. 3, inside Vigo County Aquatic Center in Terre Haute, Ind. The Eagles were led by their divers as they captured wins in both the one and three meter dive.
Eastern Michigan's first event win of the evening came via the 100 yard backstroke where Siporah Sang (London, Ontario/Sir Frederick Banting Secondary) finished first in 56.60, followed by Kiersten Russell (Clinton, Mich./Saline High School) in third, swimming the distance in 57.62, marking a career-fastest for the junior.
Lucy Noble (Flagler Beach Fla./Flagler Palm Coast) rounded out EMU's finishers in the 100 back, as she placed fifth in 58.60. Overall, the Eagles secured 14 points in the event.
The Eagles next claimed victory in the one meter dive, securing the number one and two spots as Keira Veltigian (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) took first with 272.25 points, trailed by Rebekah Knapp (Mesa, Ariz./Skyline), scoring 267.75 points. Eastern's scoring in the event was capped by Camryn Hughes (London, Ontario/Sir Frederick Banting Secondary), who put up 264.23.
EMU also took the three meter dive with Veltigian again claiming the top spot, this time posting 295.88 points. She would be followed by Knapp in second with 288.45 and Hughes in third, notching 278.33.
After securing her spot at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships by scoring 272.18 points in the one meter dive in EMU's previous meet versus the Miami University RedHawks, Oct. 28, Knapp also did so in the three meter via her 288.45 points in the event at Indiana State.

The Eagles and Cardinals will meet in the pool for the 39th time Saturday. Eastern holds the all-time series edge against Ball State, producing a 23-14-1 record when facing the Cardinals. Additionally, Eastern Michigan has found consistent success in the series as of late as it has captured six consecutive wins over the MAC opponent, marking the longest winning streak in the series for either institution.
