Daneva (North Macedonia) and Hazmukova (Czech Republic) set to join the program for the 2024-25 season

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Two international student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers with the Eastern Michigan University tennis program, first-year Head Coach Ryan Kucera announced today, Nov. 16. The newcomers, which include Iva Daneva (Kavadarci, North Macedonia/DSU Sportska Akademija) and Viktorie Hazmukova (Skvorec, Czech Republic/Skoly Brezova), will join the Eagles next year to begin competing in the 2024-25 season.

"We are ecstatic to welcome these outstanding young women to the Eastern Michigan Tennis Family," Kucera said. "They are both true Eagles on and off the court. They have strong character and excel in all they do. Both of them possess a passion for the game, competing at the highest level, and being a part of this team."

Daneva has excelled both domestically and internationally where she has competed for North Macedonia in several events, including the Billie Jean King Cup, the European Junior U18 Championships, and the U18 Summer Cups. Most recently, she went 4-0 in doubles play to help the senior national team win promotion in the Billie Jean King Cup where North Macedonia will play in Europe Group II in 2024. Domestically, Daneva has claimed 13 national titles at various age groups, including the junior girls (under 18) and master's tournaments in 2023 along with two more U18 crowns (2020, 2022), one title each at the U16 (2021), U14 (2019), and U12 (2017) events and four U18 Masters championships (2019-22). She also has reached the finals of several ITF events in the past two years, helping her move up to an ITF ranking of 748 and a Universal Tennis Rating of 8.83.

"Iva brings an incredible tennis resume," Kucera stated. "She has been the best player in North Macedonia for practically her whole junior career. She has strong international experience, including playing for her national team with great success. She is an incredible ball striker and a dynamic athlete; Eastern fans will love watching her play."

Hazmukova has also fared well in recent years, especially in doubles play as she has reached the finals in seven ITF events since the start of the 2022 season. One half of the double's championship team in both Offenback (ITF Grade 4 Tournament, Jan 12, 2022) and Larnaca (ITF Grade 5 Tournament, Nov. 22, 2022), Hazmukova competed well in a follow-up tournament in Larnaca (Nov. 29, 2022) where she advanced to the finals in both singles and doubles play. All told, she has risen the ranks throughout her career, climbing as high as 519 on the ITF world rankings while carrying a UTR of 9.38.

"Viktorie is equally outstanding as a player," Kucera said. "She possesses a mature and well-rounded game that will fit seamless into our system. She competes against incredibly tough competition and has produced great results in both singles and doubles. We can't wait to get her in an Eastern uniform to see the impact she makes on both the singles and doubles court."
