Swim Defeats Findlay; Dive Completes Day One at UB Invite

HOLLAND, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving program competed separately, Friday, Jan. 13, with the swim team capturing one victory.
The divers started in the morning, competing in the University at Buffalo's Diving Invitational. The first day featured the 1-meter dive, while tomorrow's session will include the 3-meter dive.
The swimmers headed to Holland, Mich. to compete against Grand Valley State University, the University of Indianapolis and the University of Findlay. EMU defeated Findlay, 173-97, but fell to Indianapolis (156-136) and GVSU (176-117), after winning four events in the quad meet.
How It Happened
At the UB Diving Invite, junior Camryn Hughes (London, Ontario-Sir Frederick Banting) placed fourth in both the preliminary round and the finals. Hughes recorded the highest score for the Eagles, totaling 271.85 points in the final round.
In the pool, freshman Isabel Harri (Thunder Bay, Ontario-Westgate Collegiate & Vocational Institute) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.99) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.16) for the Green and White. Senior Carlin Hudson (Chattanooga, Tenn.-Chattanooga School for the Arts & Science) earned a victory in the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.72) and the 100-yard freestyle (51.90).

The EMU divers will return to Buffalo for day two of the invitational Saturday, Jan. 14, which will feature the 3-meter dive. Fans can follow the match via YouTube. The swim team will host Buffalo, Jan. 21, in Saline, Mich. at Saline High School. The first meet is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
