EMU Tennis Lands Four on the Academic All-MAC Team

Ganesan, Pommiers, Popma, and Whitney earn the honor for their efforts on and off the court
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team landed four student-athletes on the Mid-American Conference's Academic All-MAC team, the league office announced today, June 8.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
Leading the league, Toledo and Western Michigan both saw eight selected to this year's team. Buffalo followed just behind with seven honorees, while Bowling Green State, Eastern Michigan, and Northern Illinois each had four. Additionally, Ball State and Miami tabbed three and two, respectively.
The Eagles to earn the honor this season are redshirt seniors Vasavi Ganesan (Chennai, India-Alagappa Matriculation School) and Grace Whitney (Imlay City, Mich.-Imlay City (Wright State)), along with redshirt sophomores Emma-Lou Pommiers (Aire-sur-l'Adour, France-Saint Dominique Pau) and Isabelle Popma (Staphorst, Netherlands-Center for Sports and Education). Additionally, all four recipients earned the honor last year as well.
