Hurdles Highlight Day Two of MAC Outdoor Championships

Five hurdlers qualified for Saturday's races
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field team continued to build momentum at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships today, May 13, at the Kanley Track & Field Complex. Through two days, the men's team trails Kent State, 86 to 57. Meanwhile, the women are in fifth place with 30 points, as Kent State paces the league with 63.
How It Happened
The men's and women's hurdlers were especially strong, as five Eagles qualified for Saturday's finals. Sophomore Almighty Williamson (Baltimore, Md.-Digital Harbor (Barton C.C.)) had the fastest time of any male competitor at 14.27, while junior Alysse Wade (Mansfield, Ohio-St. Peter's) crossed the finish line in 13.77, the second-fastest time of the day.
Senior Chukwusom Enekwechi (Valley Stream, N.Y.-Jamaica Gateway to the Sciences (Monroe College)) picked up silver in the shot put with a mark of 17.81m. Classmate Kadian Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica-Immaculate Conception) finished fourth in the same event at 15.48m for five points.
Senior Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Windhoek, Namibia-Fishburne Military (Va.) (Bethany College)) made some noise in the long jump, registering a second-place finish with a season-best effort of 7.42m. Elsewhere in the field, sophomore Maura Lane (Cary, N.C.-Panther Creek (Campbell)) earned bronze with a height of 3.59m in the pole vault.
Freshman Maleah Scott (Farmington, Minn.-Farmington) tallied a career-high point total of 3,845 for eleventh with personal-best marks in the shot put (9.66m), 200m dash (27.95), and javelin (24.64m).
