Lester leads in heptathlon with 3,088 points

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field program saw its multis put their athleticism on full display at Saginaw Valley State University's Jet's Pizza Invitational today, Jan. 28, inside the SVSU Fieldhouse.

Junior Chevonne Wheeler (Redford, Mich.-Divine Child) and freshman Maleah Scott (Farmington, Mich.-Farmington) completed the pentathlonplacing fourth (2,925) and sixth (2,770) in the competition, respectively. Wheeler took first in the 800 with a time of 2:14.23 and produced a personal-best leap of 5.27m in the long jump for third.

Senior Skyler Lester (Marietta, Ga.-Marietta) currently leads in the heptathlon with 3,088 points. Lester recorded a personal-best shot put of 13.40m for first and won the high jump at 2.01, while finishing second in the 60m dash (7.09) and long jump (6.65m). The Marietta, Ga. native will wrap up the heptathlon tomorrow, starting with 60m hurdles, followed by the pole vault and 1000m run.
