YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team fell to Kent State, 56-47, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center tonight, Jan. 18.

Junior Bryce McBride (Jackson, Tenn.-Southside (Dyersburg State C.C.)) led all scorers with 20 points off the bench. Senior Nate Scott (Naperville, Ill.-NeuQua Valley (Northern Illinois)) added nine points while freshman Colin Golson Jr. (Detroit, Mich.-Ferndale (Siena)) helped out with six points.

Eastern Michigan grabbed 32 rebounds in Tuesday's game compared to Kent State's 31, led by Freshman Mo Njie's (Centerville, Ohio-Centerville) game-high six boards. The EMU defense caused its share of mistakes, forcing 14 KSU turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 16 points on the other end of the floor.

How It Happened
Eastern Michigan started out the scoring by going on a 5-0 run, culminating in a three from senior Darion Spottsville (Phoenix, Ariz.-Shadow Mountain (South Mountain C.C.)) to take an early lead with 19:11 left in the first half. The Eagles then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 26-17.

Kent State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 40-26 advantage before Eastern went on a 5-0 run to shrink the deficit to 40-31 with 8:53 to go in the contest. The Eagles were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, but could not overcome the Golden Flashes' lead  the  56-47. Eastern Michigan capitalized on nine Kent State turnovers in the period, collecting 11 points off those turnovers.
