The Eagles will play host to two fall invites
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University tennis Head Coach Jayson Wiseman announced the 2021 fall schedule today, Sept. 7. The five weekends of competition will include two home invites for the Green and White, making this season the first time the Eagles have hosted fall matches.
Eastern begins the fall competition slate at home Sept. 17-18, as they invite Bellarmine, Northern Kentucky, and Oakland to the Chippewa Club for a hidden duel formatted tournament. The competition is slated to begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17.
Next, the Eagles will split up as some will head to Champaign, Ill. to compete in the ITA Regional Tournament, hosted by Illinois, Sept. 23-26, and the remaining squad will turn to Muncie, Ind. to take on the third annual Bethany Moore Invitational at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, Sept. 24-25. Those competing in the ITA regional will be attempting to qualify for the Super Regional, hosted by Ohio State.
The Green and White return to Ypsilanti to welcome 10 schools for flighted doubles and singles contests, with the flighting determined by the student-athlete's universal tennis rating (UTR), Oct. 1-3. Teams participating include, Ball State, Cleveland State, DePaul, Ferris State, Illinois State, Notre Dame, Northwood, Wayne State, and Western Michigan, with action slated to begin Oct. 1 at 11 a.m.
Based on the results from the earlier ITA Regional and qualification, a select few Eagles may close out the fall slate in Columbus, Ohio for the ITA Super Regional Tournament, hosted by Ohio State, Oct. 21-25.
