The Eagles turn to Northern Illinois, Oct. 3
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team dropped its home contest to Western Michigan University, 1-0, on Thursday afternoon at Scicluna Field.
The result brings the Eagles' overall record to 1-7-2 on the season and their MAC record to 0-2-1.
Senior Chelsea Abbotts (Ottawa, Ontario-Mother Teresa) earned 11 saves, a season-high for the keeper, and the first time she has notched double-digit saves this season.
On the Eagles' attack, senior Haley Tausend (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) and sophomore Amanda Cripps (Bradford, Ontario-Trinity Catholic) each tallied a shot on goal. Cripps tabbed four total shots while freshman Sophia D'Ambra (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard South) earned two shots.
Freshman Lexy Alston (Amherst, Ohio-Marion L. Steele) led the Green and White's bench with a shot in 44 minutes of play.
How It Happened
Both defenses held each attack scoreless in the first 45 minutes of play. In the second half, the Broncos broke the tie with a header into the right side of the net in the 72nd minute off of a corner kick opportunity.
