The senior is just the fifth Eagle to collect All-District accolades in program history
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University diver Bethany Berger (Batavia, Ohio-Glen Este) was named as an Academic All-District selection, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced July 8.
Berger is just the fifth Eagle in program history to earn Academic All-District honors. Previously, Sarah Chrzanowski was honored in 2006 and 2007, Madeleine Pilchard collected the accolade in 2006 and 2007, Briana Emig snagged the honor in 2013, and Delaney Duncan was awarded the distinction in 2018.
Berger maintained a 3.99 GPA in her field of exercise science throughout her distinguished career.
Wrapping up her season at the Mid-American Conference Championships, April 15-17, Berger swept the diving events at the meet, being crowned the 1-meter MAC champion with a total of 303.90, and the 3-meter MAC champion with a career-best point total of 329.70.
The Batavia, Ohio native was also named the MAC Diver of the Year following the conclusion of the meet, and also selected to the All-MAC First Team. The senior had previously been named the MAC Diver of the Week three times in 2021 and competed at the NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships in March.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
