YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball program and first-year Head Coach Stan Heath continue to build EMU's 2021-22 roster with the signing of Mo Njie (Centerville, Ohio-Centerville (DME Sports Academy)), the team announced today, June 28. Njie is a three-star recruit from Rivals.com and 247Sports.com.
"At 6-foot-10, Mo gives us the size and presence in the paint both offensively and defensively," Heath said. "He will be effective early in his career and as time continues his work ethic will give him a chance to be a dominant big man in the MAC."
The incoming freshman will wear the Green and White after playing for DME Sports Academy last season under Head Coach Wesam Al-Sous. Njie helped lead the team to a third-place finish at the PhenomHoops Post Grad Nationals.
Njie graduated from Centerville High School and played for Head Coach Brook Cupps. The three-year letterwinner and two-time captain averaged 15.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, and 2.2 assists per game during his final campaign. The Ohio native broke three school records with 122 career blocks, a 63.0 career field goal percentage, and most blocks in a game with 12.
The 6-foot-10 center guided the Elks to two district championships and earned second team All-State. Additionally, Njie was a two-time first team all-conference honoree. The freshman also received the Andrew Case Leadership Award, Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award, and was the Underclassman of the Year.
Furthermore, Njie played AAU basketball for the C2K Elite and All Ohio Red.
Eastern Michigan continues its offseason schedule and prepares for the 2021-22 season with Coach Heath at the helm of the program.
