Men’s Basketball Signs First True Freshman, Luka Savikjevikj

Savikjevikj hails from Skopje Macedonia
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball program and first-year Head Coach Stan Heath look to build EMU's 2021-22 roster with the signing of Luka Savikjevikj (Skopje, Macedonia-Sports Academy Skopje), the team announced today, May 26. Savikjevikj is the first "true" freshman on Coach Heath's roster.
Luka has been playing national games with his country of Macedonia. He's a point guard with great vision and a great feel for the game," said Heath. "He has good size at 6-foot-3 and he can definitely be a player who's ready to go as a freshman because of his international experience."
The incoming freshman is a member of the senior Macedonia U18 National Team, where he averaged 9.2 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.0 rebounds in the North Macedonia Super League for KK MZT Skopje during the 2020-21 season.
The 6-foot-3 guard helped lead the national team to a fourth-place finish at the European Championship for Division B this year. During the championships, he tallied 7.0 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game.
Savikjevikj led all athletes in assists at the European Championships in the U16 Division B, and was voted MVP of the Macedonian Youth League. Additionally, the guard led his team to three Macedonian Youth League championships.
Eastern Michigan continues its offseason schedule and prepares for the 2021-22 season with Coach Heath at the helm of the program.
