Each week a number of Eagles will be honored for their success in competition
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week.
MALE NOMINEE
Name: Nick Jones
Sport: Baseball
Position: Catcher/DH
Year: Senior
GPA: 3.90
Major: Higher Education Student Affairs
Week's Achievements (detailed description of week's events):
Eastern Michigan senior captain Nick Jones helped lead the Eagles to a series split over Ball State, April 15-17, handing the Cardinals its first non-winning series of MAC play. The Battle Creek, Mich. native posted a team second-best five hits on the weekend, resulting in a .333 batting average over four games. The senior tied for the team lead with four RBIs, while also scoring a run. The four-time team captain was also the Eagle that delivered EMU's walk-off hit, April 16, as he singled to center field to give Eastern its second win of the series. Jones has now tallied three-or-more hits in every conference series so far this season, and is tied for the team lead in hits (21) and RBIs (9) in MAC play so far this season.

Completing her career in the Green and White at the MAC Championships, April 15-17, Eastern Michigan senior diver Bethany Berger swept the diving events at the meet, being crowned the 1-meter MAC champion with a total of 303.90, and the 3-meter MAC champion with a career-best point total of 329.70. The Batavia, Ohio native was also named the MAC Diver of the Year following the conclusion of the meet, and was also selected to the All-MAC First Team. The senior had previously been named the MAC Diver of the Week three times in 2021, and competed at the NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships in March.
