Eagles Set for Doubleheader in Hoosier State

The Green and White will take on Butler and Indiana Tech, Friday, April 2
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team is set for a road trip, as they square-off against Butler University and Indiana Tech, Friday, April 2. The match against the Bulldogs will take place at 10 a.m., while the contest with the Warriors will start at 5 p.m.
Eastern (7-9, 1-5 MAC) dropped a Mid-American Conference affair to the University at Buffalo, Sunday, March 28. The Eagles were bested, 2-5, in a tough match against the Bulls. The redshirt junior pairing of Luisa Pelayo (Porto, Portugal-Colegio Cebes (Wright State)) and Grace Whitney (Imlay City, Mich.-Imlay City (Wright State)) improved their win streak to eight as the duo downed their Buffalo opponent, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot. However, the Green and White did not secure the doubles point.
Meanwhile, redshirt junior Vasavi Ganesan (Tamil Nadu, India-Alagappa Matriculation School (Eastern Florida State)) and Pelayo earned two hard-fought singles points at No. 3 and No. 2, respectively. For Ganesan, her victory in straight sets, 7-6, 7-5, improved her win streak to four. Additionally, Pelayo's triumph, 6-1, 0-6, 7-5, gives her 10 singles wins on the season.
Butler (4-4, 0-0 Big East) is coming off a 5-2 win over Valparaiso, March 27, bringing them to .500 on the year. The Eagles were originally scheduled to play the Bulldogs in a doubleheader on Feb. 28, which was canceled. Indiana Tech (11-1, 3-0 WHAC) has won six consecutive matches, going the whole month of March without a loss.
Next week, the Green and White will continue MAC play as they host Bowling Green State University, Friday, April 9. Action inside the Chippewa Club is set to begin at 1 p.m.
