Parris Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

She becomes the first Eagle to win the award this year
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University gymnastics student-athlete Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday, March 24.
The sophomore holds a 3.94 grade point average while studying elementary education, and becomes the first EMU gymnast to earn the honor since Kendall Valentin in 2017.
Parris helped her team win the 2021 MAC Championship, March 20, by hitting at career-high of 9.850 on vault to tie for first place, to become EMU' its first vault champion since Chris Deitrick in 1988. The Ohio native also earned a 9.800 on bars, and was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team.
Eastern Michigan prepares for NCAA regionals in Tuscaloosa, Ala. where it will compete against Maryland in the first round Thursday, April 1.
