YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Athletic Media Relations Graduate Assistant Alexis Chevalier has been accepted into the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar.

"I am very thankful to have been selected for this opportunity," Chevalier said. "I am excited to learn from some of the best in our industry and prepare for the next step in my career. I look forward to representing Eastern Michigan at this event and thank everyone at EMU Athletics for their support with this opportunity!"

The program accepts a limited number of current interns or graduate assistants that work within either an athletic department at a NCAA member school, conference office, affiliate organization or the NCAA national office.

The virtual seminar will take place from Feb. 3-5. The program is designed to educate, develop and connect participants and will help provide them with the skills necessary to accelerate their career progression in college sports.

"We are so proud that Alexis is representing Eastern Michigan University on a national level through this seminar," said EMU Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations Greg Steiner. "She has certainly earned this opportunity with her willingness to take on challenges and learn new things. Alexis is a rising star in our profession and I look forward to watching her continue to grow."

The seminar provides participants various options to connect with one another, including facilitated small group breakout rooms, networking hubs, collaborative case study spaces, and an exhibit hall where participants can speak with industry professionals and other attendees. The platform will enable attendees to build a strong sense of community within the program, replicating the cohort-model of in-person programming in the digital space.

A 2019 graduate from the University of Louisville in sport administration, Chevalier has worked tirelessly to publicize the soccer, swimming & diving, rowing, and baseball teams during her time in Ypsilanti. Besides helping expand the University's social media presence, she was also involved with the NCAA-Genius Sports' Controlled Release Group for the football live stats program in 2020.

Before coming to Eastern Michigan, Chevalier worked as an undergraduate in the Louisville Sports Information Office (2016-19) as well as with Louisville City FC (2017-19).
