Men's Basketball Signs Transfer for 2020-21 Season

Bryce McBride played one season at Dyersburg State Community College

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Head Men's Basketball Coach Rob Murphy announced the addition of community college transfer Bryce McBride (Jackson, Tenn.-Dyersburg State C.C.) to the roster for the 2020-21 season Thursday, April 16. 

"We are exited Bryce chose to join our Eagle basketball family," said Murphy. "Because of his versatility and high character, Bryce will make an immediate impact on and off the court." 

McBride will join the Eagles as a junior after spending the previous season at Dyersburg State (Tenn.) Community College. The 6-foot-2 guard earned NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention and was named to First Team All-TJCCAA after the 2019-20 season. He ranked eighth among junior college players with a 24.2 points per game average, and also contributed 4.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds a game for DSCC. In addition, the Jackson, Tenn. native shot 52.8 percent from the field with a 45 percent efficiency from beyond the three-point arc. 

McBride started his collegiate career at Motlow State (Tenn.) Community College where he played in 29 games with seven starts for the Bucks in 2018-19. 

The junior graduated from Jackson South Side High School in 2018 and led the Hawks to three regional championships. McBride was named an Class AA All-American by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association in 2017-18 and earned all-region and all-district honors twice. As a senior, McBride averaged 14.0 points and 4.0 helpers per game, and served as team captain for two years.
