Swim & Dive Lands 18 on Academic All-MAC Team

The 18 selections tie for the most in the Mid-American Conference
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced that 18 student-athletes from the Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving team were named to the Academic All-MAC Team today, March 30.
Members of the Academic All-MAC team hold GPA's of 3.20 and above and participated in at least 50 percent of contests over the season.
Eastern tied with Miami University for the most student-athletes on the Academic All-MAC Team, with 18 student-athletes earning the honors. In addition, junior Bethany Berger (Batavia, Ohio-Glen Este) was one-of-17 MAC women's swimming and diving student-athletes to record a 4.0 GPA.
Along with Berger, the Eagles that were named to the Academic All-MAC team were: seniors Amelia Armstrong-Grant (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Saline), Marcella Da Costa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil-Colegio Dom Bosco), Casey Gavigan (East Setauket, N.Y.-Ward Melville), Brielle Johnston (Ottawa, Ontario-Catholique Franco-Quest), Rachel Stark (Avon, Ohio-Avon), Kylie Sutherlin (Fishers, Ind.-Hamilton Southeastern), Sydney Thomas (Jamestown, N.Y.-Southwestern Senior), Sophia Tsafantakis (Washington, Mich.-Romeo), and Claire Young (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.-Grosse Pointe South), juniors Hunter Ignasiak (Rockford, Mich.-Rockford), Carlee Jones (Edgewood, Ky.-Notre Dame Academy), Abby Rapien (Cincinnati, Ohio-Taylor), Micaela Schempf (Bowling Green, Ohio-Bowling Green), Meike Staffeldt (Niedersachsen, Germany), Ali Staver (Bettendorf, Iowa-Pleasant Valley), and Avrie Stewart (Menominee, Mich.-Menominee), and sophomore Amelia Kinnard (Dexter, Mich.-Dexter).
