The redshirt senior was named All-MAC Honorable Mention and All-Defensive Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University men's basketball redshirt senior Boubacar Toure (Dakar, Senegal-Phase One Academy (Grand Canyon)) earned All-Mid-American Conference postseason honors the league announced today, March 11. Toure earned All-MAC Honorable Mention as well as a spot on the All-MAC Defensive Team. All-MAC teams are voted on by the league's head coaches.

Toure is the third Eagle to nab All-Defensive Team honors and joins former greats Tim Bond, who was a three-time All-MAC Defensive Team member (2016-18), and James Thompson IV, who earned the award in back-to-back seasons (2018-19).

The center started all 32 games for the Eagles and led the MAC with a 65.5 field-goal percentage (144-of-220). 7-foot Toure ranked first on the team with 9.3 rebounds per game, while averaging 10.7 points per game. His rebounding average was good for fourth in the conference. In MAC play, the Dakar, Senegal native was one of three student-athletes who averaged a double-double (11.4 ppg; 10.3 rpg).

Toure tallied 13 doubles-doubles during the 2019-20 campaign, with his most recent performance coming in the first round of the MAC Tournament at Kent State with 14 points and 13 rebounds, March 9.

Not only did Toure help the MAC's second-best defense by clearing the glass, but he also finished fourth in the league with 44 total blocks (1.4 bpg). The redshirt senior anchored EMU's signature 2-3 zone as he posted 14 games with multiple swats, including a career-high five blocks against Central Michigan, Feb. 29.

Toure will finish his EMU career with 31 double-figure scoring performances, 21 double-doubles, and led the Eagles in rebounding 34 times. His 65.3 career field-goal percentage (252-of-386) is the best in program history, and his 86 career blocks are good for ninth in the team's record book.
