YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University baseball team and Head Coach Eric Roof have announced that Major League Baseball's Matt Shoemaker, an EMU alumnus, will again host a Pro Pitching Development Camp in Ypsilanti, Feb. 1, 2020.
The camp will run Saturday, February 1st from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and is open to pitchers and catchers between first grade-junior college. The cost of the camp will be $100.
"We will break down what it takes to pitch at the next level. From stretching, pre-game routine, arm care, throwing, long tossing, bands, core work, hip and mobility exercises, mechanics, tempo, delivery, conditioning, fielding your position, handling the running game, attacking hitters, pitching to your strengths, how to gain velocity, command your pitches, the mental side of the game, and more," offered Roof. "Not only will players learn ways to improve their game, they will also gain exposure in the recruiting process and get individual evaluations from the Eastern Michigan coaching staff. In addition to that, each pitcher will get to use Rapsodo, a pitching device built to analyze and breakdown each pitch."
Current MLB pitcher (Toronto Blue Jays) and former Eastern Michigan Eagle Matt Shoemaker will be in attendance to instruct and teach. The seventh-year MLB veteran and three-year EMU letterwinner from 2006-2008 will give insight as to what it takes to pitch at the highest level and how he made it to "the show."
