CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team was selected eighth by the Mid-American Conference women's tennis coaches in the league's annual preseason poll, the league announced today, Jan. 16. The University at Buffalo was selected to win the MAC Women's Tennis regular season title, while the Miami RedHawks were picked to win the 2020 MAC Women's Tennis Tournament Championship.

Buffalo finished first in the preseason poll with a total of 77 total points and five first-place votes as the top program.  Miami ranked second in the preseason poll with a total of 76 points and four first place votes as the regular season runner-up. Ball State (59), Akron (49), and Western Michigan (40) rounded out the top-five, while Toledo (38), Bowling Green (35), Eastern (18), and Northern Illinois (13) finished the field.

Back in action for its first season since the 2017-18 campaign, Eastern is led by head coach Jayson Wiseman. When asked about the preseason poll, Wiseman noted, "We were picked in a similar position in our previous poll, and were able to beat expectations and finish fifth in the conference. The MAC is always competitive, but I expect us to use these results as motivation to improve as a team and surprise people along the way."
