Duncan Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

This is the second Scholar Athlete of the Week award in Duncan's career
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving senior Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) was named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 3, the conference office announced Wednesday, March 6. This is the second time Duncan has earned the nod in her career, while she is the fifth Eagle across all sports to earn the honor this season.
Duncan was named the 2019 MAC Most Outstanding Swimmer following a record-shattering performance at the MAC Swimming and Diving Championships, Feb. 27- March 2 in Akron, Ohio. Throughout the weekend, Duncan became the first female swimmer in conference history to win the 100 Breaststroke four times with an NCAA 'A' cut time, school record, conference record, and personal-best swim of 58.25. Furthermore, she became the only swimmer in Eastern Michigan history to qualify for the NCAA Championships four times. Duncan also earned the conference's 200 Breaststroke title with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 2:07.38. For her weekend's efforts, Duncan earned the conference's Outstanding Senior award, voted on by the conference's swimming and diving team coaches to recognize the most exceptional senior swimmer, while also being named All-MAC First Team.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented weekly to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and with an outstanding performance during the week's competitions.
