Bezold Takes Home MAC Specialist of the Week Honors

Cortney Bezold scored a career-high 9.900 on the bars at the George Washington Quad

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University sophomore specialist Cortney Bezold (Maineville, Ohio-Bishop Fenwick) earned Mid-American Conference Gymnastics Specialist of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday, Feb. 26. It marked the first time in her career she has claimed the honor.

Bezold was sensational on bars at the Geogre Washington Quad, Feb. 22, earning a career-best 9.900. Not only was her score a personal-best, but it also tied for the third-best in program history. Bezold's score was the highest by an Eagle on the apparatus since Kendall Valentin tied the program record with a 9.950 at the Temple Quad, March 11, 2018.

The EMU gymnastics team returns to action after a seven-day break Friday night, March 1, when it hosts in-state foe Michigan State University. The meet, which admission is free, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center.  Fans can also watch the meet on ESPN3 where Joel Godett and Megan Boyce will call the action.
