Soccer Lands 15 on Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University soccer team saw a program-record 15 student-athletes land on the Academic All-Mid American Conference Team, the league office announced Wednesday, Dec. 11. The 15 Eagles on the list is the second-most out of all MAC schools.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
Earning the award for the Eagles were: sophomore Simone Chiodo (Oshawa, Ontario-Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic), junior Marla Cobetto (Trenton, Mich.-Trenton), redshirt senior Peyton Davis (North Ridgeville, Ohio-Holy Name), redshirt junior Mabel Dunn (Oakville, Ontario-White Oaks Secondary), sophomore Kylie Frantz (Erie, Pa.-Villa Maria Academy), junior Alia Frederick (Linden, Mich.-Linden), redshirt senior Kristin Hullibarger (Brooklin, Ontario-Donald A. Wilson), junior Parys Kerr (Whitby, Ontario-Pickering), junior Kennady Kuhlman (Howell, Mich.-Hartland), senior Aubrey Martin (Toronto, Ontario-Father John Redmond), senior Maggie McCullough (London, Ontario-Oakridge Secondary), redshirt junior Sabrina McNeill (Whitby, Ontario-Henry Street), junior Tessa Osborne (Mentor, Ohio-Lake Catholic), redshirt junior Nicole Remedios (Ajax, Ontario-Archbishop Dennis O'Connor), and junior Haley Tausend (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington).
Chiodo, a K-12 physical education teaching major with a 3.39 GPA, appeared in 17 matches for the Eagles in 2019, with three being starts.
Majoring in exercise science and holding a 3.43 GPA, Cobetto saw action in 16 games for EMU in 2019. The junior recorded the game-winning goal for the Green and White, Aug. 25, at Detroit Mercy. This is the second Academic All-MAC honor for Cobetto.
Receiving her third Academic All-MAC award, Davis holds a 3.53 GPA in exercise science. The Ohio native recorded an assist, Oct. 18 at Kent State.
Dunn earns her first Academic All-MAC honor in 2019 with a 3.76 GPA in K-12 physical education teaching. Making 13 starts for EMU, Dunn tallied 70 saves and a .707 save percentage on the season.
A first-time Academic All-MAC recipient, Frantz has a 3.49 GPA in exercise science. Recording one goal in 2019, the sophomore notched the game-winner in Eastern's 3-2 overtime win at Kent State, Oct. 18.
Earning her second Academic All-MAC award, Frederick has a perfect 4.0 GPA in her biology studies. The junior was also named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Second Team, Nov. 8. Frederick tallied two assists in 2019.
Hullibarger earns her third Academic All-MAC award for her 3.75 GPA in sport management. The redshirt senior finished 2019 with a team-leading 18 points from seven goals and four assists. Hullibarger set the program's single-game scoring record with four goals against Ohio, Nov. 8, in Eastern's 5-2 win in the MAC Tournament semifinals.
A communication major with a 3.53 GPA, Kerr earns her first Academic All-MAC honor in 2019. The junior scored a goal against Bowling Green, Oct. 13, along with two assists during the season.
Receiving her first Academic All-MAC accolade, Kuhlman holds a 3.40 GPA in elementary education mathematics. The junior made 16 appearances for the Eagles and notched an assist for EMU, Aug. 22 against Oakland.
Martin earns her third Academic All-MAC award for her 3.99 GPA studying biology. The defender made eight starts and 13 appearances overall for the Eagles, adding an assist against Miami, Sept. 27 for her first career point.
Holding a 3.90 GPA while studying biology, McCullough earns her second Academic All-MAC accolade in 2019. The senior made 15 appearances, with five of them being starts, for EMU in 2019, while also tallying an assist, Aug. 25 at Detroit Mercy.
A first team All-MAC honoree, McNeill adds an Academic All-MAC award to her 2019 resume. Her second overall Academic All-MAC selection, the redshirt junior has a 3.45 GPA in K-12 physical education teaching. The Ontario native finished the 2019 season with 15 points from seven goals and one assist.
Earning her second Academic All-MAC honor, Osborne has earned a 3.86 GPA while studying exercise science. Starting 20 matches for the Eagles and appearing in 21 overall, the junior recorded a goal at Miami, Sept. 27.
Remedios earns her first Academic All-MAC accolade in 2019 for her 3.80 GPA studying marketing. The redshirt junior's six assists in 2019 not only led the team, but also lands as the fifth-most recorded in a season in program history.
An exercise science major with a 3.68 GPA, Tausend made 18 starts for Eastern and 20 appearances overall in 2019. In addition, the junior scored the game-winner against Central Michigan, Oct. 31 to secure Eastern's spot in the MAC Tournament.
