YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are junior women's basketball student-athlete Courtnie Lewis and senior football student-athlete Brody Hoying.
Courtnie Lewis
Eastern Michigan junior guard Courtnie Lewis was impressive for the Green and White in its two games against Michigan, Nov. 27, and Binghamton, Dec. 1. The Belton, Mo. Native kicked off the holiday weekend with a good showing against the Wolverines, contributing four points and five defensive rebounds to the Eagles' effort. Against Binghamton, Lewis shot 6-for-11 from the field, including 3-of-7 from deep, and scored 17 points, all season-highs. Defensively, she added six rebounds and a steal. Lewis is averaging 8.8 points per game for the Eagles this season, good for fourth on the team, and is one of four players to have crossed the 50-point plateau thus far.
Brody Hoying

Overall, it marked the first time this season and the 12th time in his career that Hoying reached double figures in stops. Overall, EMU's defense limited a talented Kent State offense to just three points and 163 yards in the second half.
