YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – An early lead slipped away as the Eastern Michigan University soccer team was clipped, 2-1, by Ohio University Sunday, Sept. 23, at Scicluna Field.
Senior Kaylin Williams (Winnetonka, Kansas City- Mo.) completed her day with six saves to inch closer to joining the 300-save club, while redshirt junior Kristin Nason (Brooklin, Ontario-Donald A. Wilson) recorded the 30th point of her career to move into 19th-place in the EMU record books.
The Eagles struck first as Nason scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 20th minute. Rounding a defender, Nason fired a shot past the Ohio keeper on a feed by redshirt sophomore Sabrina McNeill (Whitby, Ontario-Henry Street).
The Bobcats found the equalizer in the 34th minute on a shot from 20 yards out to even the score at one apiece.
Ohio tallied the game-winner early second half on a quick counter-attack to go ahead, 2-1, in the 48th minute.
Eastern Michigan had its fair share of opportunities down the stretch but failed to capitalize, falling 2-1.
The Eagles continue conference play with a two game away stand starting Friday, Sept. 28, when they head to Cub Cadet Field at FirstEnergy Stadium to take on the Zips of Akron at 7 p.m. They then head to University at Buffalo, Sunday, Sept. 30 to take on the Bulls at UB Field
