Sue Parks Earns NCAA Great Lakes Region Women's Coach of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, La. (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University Women's Track and Field Head Coach Sue Parks earned NCAA Great Lakes Region Women's Coach of the Year, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Monday, March 5.
Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
Parks, in her 12th year at Eastern Michigan, led the Eagles to a dominating Mid-American Conference championship, with the women winning a total of seven conference crowns. Parks' athletes scored 93 of the team's 154 team points in just five mid-distance/distance events, and the Eastern Michigan distance medley relay team ranks seventh nationally in the event. Additionally, under the tutelage of Parks, the DMR team consisting of redshirt senior Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia-Lyceum #83), and seniors Jasmine Jones (Greensburg, Pa.-Hempfield Area), Jenna Wyns (Londerzeel, Belgium-Sportschool KA2), and Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich.-Chippewa Valley), earned a trip to the NCAA Championship meet to compete for a national title. Furthermore, Bogdanova also qualified for the championship meet in the 3000m.
Parks and the Eagles head to the NCAA Championship this weekend, Friday-Saturday, March 9-10, which will be hosted by Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. There, Parks will be recognized during a presentation regarding all the outstanding student-athletes and coaches from the 2018 indoor season.
