YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The heart-pounding, fast-breaking action of postseason college basketball is back when the 2018 Mid-American Conference Tournament returns to Quicken Loans Arena, March 7-10. Celebrating 19 years of MAC basketball action in Cleveland, Ohio, eight of the 12 schools that make up the conference will send men's and women's teams to "The Q" to battle for the MAC Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The EMU men's basketball team has already punched its ticket to Cleveland with a 74-58 victory at Western Michigan University Tuesday, Feb. 27. Eastern, which still can be either the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the tournament, has earned a bye into the quarterfinal round Thursday, March 8. Meanwhile, the EMU women's team will be either the No. 9 or No. 10 seed on the road in the opening round tournament game Monday, March 5.
Tickets are available through the EMU Ticket Office for all tournament games held at Quicken Loans Arena in which EMU participates, at the following prices: women's basketball: $10 and men's basketball: $34. EMU students can purchase women's tournament tickets for $5 or men's tournament tickets for $15 with a valid student ID. Ticket order reservations may be placed online at EMUEagles.com/tickets, calling 734.487.3669 or purchased at the EMU table in the main ticket area inside the northeast entrance at Quicken Loans Arena. Pre-ordered tickets will require a valid photo ID for pick-up. Buying tickets for the men's games in advance is the only way to guarantee a spot in the Eastern Michigan fan section.
As the Eagles continue to advance into the MAC Tournament, EMU Athletics is planning to provide free transportation for fans who wish to travel to Cleveland to see Eastern Michigan basketball in action at Quicken Loans Arena. Fan buses will be provided for the semifinal and championship games, departing from the Convocation Center on Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10, before returning to Ypsilanti postgame. The bus will depart from the EMU Convocation Center five hours prior to tipoff of the first EMU game (please arrive 15 minutes early). If you are interested, simply call the EMU Ticket Office at 734.487.3669. The game ticket purchase is the only cost to ride on the bus.
The 5-12 seeds will play first round games on campus sites with the winners advancing to face each other in the second round at Quicken Loans Arena. The winners will advance to the quarterfinal games to play the top four seeds with those winners advancing to the semifinal games. The seeding is based on conference winning percentage, regardless of division.
