Redshirt junior Boubacar Toure turned in a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds

FORT WORTH, Texas (EMUEagles.com) – Redshirt junior Boubacar Toure (Dakar, Senegal-Phase One Academy (Grand Canyon)) turned in a career-best 20 points but it was not enough for the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team to overtake Texas Christian University Monday, Nov. 26, falling 87-69 in Schollmaier Arena.

Toure notched his second consecutive double-double, adding a game-high 12 rebounds to his team-leading 20 points, to lead the Eagles. Redshirt senior Paul Jackson (Stone Mountaint, Ga.-Martin Luther King Jr. (Eastern Kentucky)) finished just behind Toure with 18 points and six assists. Also finishing in double-figures was redshirt sophomore Ty Groce (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Lincoln), who scored 12 points and pulled down five boards. Junior Damari Parris (Bowie, Md.-Evelyn Mack Academy (Trinity Valley C.C.)) turned in a solid performance of seven points and seven assists while committing just one turnover.

The EMU defense struggled to keep a hot-shooting TCU from filling up the hoop, as the home team shot a blistering 60.7 percent from the floor and 42.3 percent from downtown. Eastern, on the flip side, shot a respectable 44.8 percent overall and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc.

TCU held the lead in points in the paint, 42 to 32, and converted more turnovers into points, 21 to 6. Perhaps the biggest advantage could be seen in the assist column, as the Horned Frogs had 31 assists on 34 made shots, compared to the Eagles' 16 assists on 26 makes.

Eastern shot out to an early advantage, using a 9-0 scoring run before the second media timeout of the first half to take a 13-4 lead. TCU chipped away at the deficit and eventually overtook the Green and White with 8:32 to play in the half, and the Horned Frogs never looked back.

The Eagles returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 1 when they take on Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. at 3 p.m.
