Sabrina McNeill garners first team honors, while Kristin Nason is a second team selection
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Redshirt sophomore Sabrina McNeill (Whitby, Ontario-Henry Street) and redshirt junior Kristin Nason (Brooklin, Ontario-Donald A. Wilson) represented the Eastern Michigan University soccer team on the All-Mid-American Conference Teams announced by the league office Thursday, Nov. 1. McNeill was a first team selection, while Nason garnered second team honors.
Combining to be one of the most dangerous offensive threats in the conference, McNeill and Nason are the first pair of Eagles to be honored as first or second team selections since 2016.
Coming back from a season-ending injury that cut her 2017 campaign short, McNeill turned in a fantastic season for the Green and White, becoming the first Eagle to land on the All-MAC First Team since Ellie Tillar in 2016. The Whitby, Ontario native scored seven goals, four of which were game-winners, while tying for the team-lead with six assists. For the season, McNeill ranked second in the MAC in shots, tied for second in game-winning goals, tied for fourth in shots on goal, tied for ninth in points, tied for 10th in both goals and assists.
Like McNeill, Nason also put together a career year for the Eagles. The Brooklin, Ontario native and three-time team captain led Eastern Michigan in goals with a career-high eight strikes, while also tacking on a career-best five assists. Her team-leading 21 points were also tied for seventh-most in the league. Nason finished the season slotted tied for fourth in shots on goal, tied for sixth in goals, and eighth in shots.
Eastern Michigan's season came to a close with a heartbreaking 2-1 setback at No. 1 Bowling Green State University in the MAC Tournament Quarterfinals Sunday, Oct. 28. EMU finished the year with its most wins since the 2014 campaign.
