Cizmas Reels in MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week Honors

This is the first Scholar Athlete of the Week honor earned by an Eagle this year

CELEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University women's cross country redshirt senior Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich.-Chippewa Valley) was named Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week for the period ending Oct. 28. The recognition was earned for her incredible performance at the MAC Championships, Oct. 27, held in Toledo, Ohio. Moreover, this is Cizmas' first weekly scholar honors of her career.

The co-captain led EMU to its fourth consecutive MAC Cross Country Championship. The Clinton Twp., Mich. native captured the individual crown with a final time of 20:34.89, warranting First Team All-MAC honors for the second time in her career. Additionally, she has earned All-MAC honors in the last three seasons, while acting as the fourth Eagle in five years to lay claim to the individual title.

Cizmas and the Eagles have a week off of competition before taking part in the Great Lakes Regional Friday, Nov. 9 in Terre Haute, Ind.
