YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University soccer team dropped a tight Mid-American Conference clash against Ball State University Sunday, Oct. 25, on Senior Day at Scicluna Field. Eastern (9-10-0, 4-6-0 MAC) had a shot in the final second, but it sailed high, sealing the 1-nil defeat.
The Green and White recognized the 2018 senior class of Kaylin Williams, Mikayala Cupp, Mia Colavito, and Mackenzie Etienne at halftime as part of the Senior Day festivities.
The Eagles led the Cardinals (10-3-2, 6-2-1 MAC) in shots, 15-11, and manufactured eight corners while holding BSU to zero, but could not break through, as a 51st minute strike proved to be the difference maker.
Eastern created its fair share of chances in the final 30 minutes, but Ball State's keeper made all three of her saves in the final period to hold EMU off the scoreboard. With the loss, EMU's postseason hopes hinge on its regular season finale Thursday, Oct. 25, against Central Michigan University. The match is slated for 3 p.m. at Scicluna Field.
