Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are soccer athlete, Kristin Nason, and football athlete, Brody Hoying.

Position: Midfield/Forward
Year: Redshirt junior
Major: Sport management
 
Week's Achievements: Redshirt junior Kristin Nason (Brooklin, Ontario-Donald A. Wilson) kept up her hot start to Mid-American Conference play, Sept. 28-30, pacing the EMU offense in a 1-1-0 weekend. Nason recorded two assists to lead the Green and White. Her weekend began with an assist on Eastern's game-winning goal in overtime, to down Akron, 1-0. She closed out EMU's roadtrip with an assist in Eastern's 2-1 overtime match against Buffalo. Having recorded a point in each of Eastern's last four matches, Nason has pieced together the longest point streak since Sept. 5-28, 2014. She has tallied three goals and added two assists over that stretch for a total of eight points. 

26961Brody Hoying
Sport: Football
Position: Defensive back
Year: Junior
Major: Supply chain management

Week's Achievements: Junior Brody Hoying (Coldwater, Ohio-Coldwater) had a solid defensive presence in EMU's triple-overtime loss to Northern Illinois Saturday, Sept. 29, recording 11 total tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss. His 11 tackles serve as the second-highest single-game mark of his career, and the best so far for the Coldwater, Ohio native this season. Moreover, he played a key role in Eastern's secondary holding NIU to just 121 yards through the air, the lowest amount the Eagles have allowed to an opponent this campaign.
