Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are volleyball's athletes Samantha Falco and Jordan Smith.
Samantha Falco
Sport: Volleyball
Position: Middle Blocker
Year: Senior
Major: Criminal Justice
Week's Achievements:Senior Samantha Falco was a consistent force on defense for the Eagles in their matches this weekend, Aug. 26-27. Falco tallied 28 blocks over four matches, notching a team-high 1.75 blocks/set. Her 28 blocks helped her surpass 100-career blocks. However, her dominating performance at the net wasn't her only contribution to EMU, as the senior also tallied 21 kills en route to finishing with 37.5 points and helping her team improve to 2-2.

Major: Psychology
Week's Achievements: Junior Jordan Smith led the Green and White attack in its opening weekend of the 2017 season, Aug. 25-26. Smith paced the team in kills (50), aces (9), and points (63.5), while also contributing five assists, 12 blocks, and the second most digs on the Eagles with 50. By garnering 50 digs , the outside hitter was able to push her career total over 400. The junior posted a career-high eight aces against Stony Brook, while capturing her first double-double of the season with 15 kills and 21 digs. Smith joined teammate Cassie Haut as the two EMU representatives on the all-tournament team.
