Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's track and field athlete Zach Harkey and women's golfer Thelma Beck.
Zach Harkey
Sport: Men's Track & Field
Position: Thrower
Year: Sophomore
Major: Neuroscience
Week's Achievements: Harkey had a career meet at the Al Owens Classic this past week, April 21-22. Harkey began with the hammer throw, nabbing eighth with a personal-best launch of 55.48 meters/ 182 feet. That mark moved him to No. 6 in the EMU record books. On day two, Harkey secured fifth in the discus, posting a mark of 49.90 meters/ 163 feet 8-inches. His discus mark also moved him into the EMU top-10, as he now sits at No. 7.

Thelma BeckSport: Women's Golf
Position: N/A
Year: Junior
Major: Psychology
Week's Achievements: Beck tied for seventh in the 2017 MAC Women's Golf Championships with a 12-over 228 (75-77-76) for her third top-10 finish of the 2016-17 campaign. Overall, it marked her second career top-10 showing at the league's championship having tied for ninth at the event in 2015. As a team, EMU finished in a tie for seventh with a three-day cumulative score of 954 (319-323-312).
