EMU's lone point came with a win at No. 4 singles
TOLEDO, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team dropped a Mid-American Conference match to the University of Toledo, 6-1, Saturday, April 15. The Eagles (6-14, 1-5 MAC) registered one win on the day, with the victory coming at No. 4 singles.
Toledo took the doubles point after securing wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles, to take an early lead in the match. At No. 1 doubles, Ani Gogvadze (Tbilisi, Georgia-Khikhani) and Maria Paula Ribero (Bucaramanga, Colombia) were defeated, 6-1, while Alejandra Barcelo Almoyna (Alicante, Spain-IES Figueras Rachecoand) and Renu Sharma (Fardabad, India) were knocked off 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Anna Veleva (Sofia, Bulgaria) notched the Eagles' lone point of the match at No. 4 singles. Veleva topped the Rockets 7-6 and 6-4 to earn the point.
The Eagles head to Buffalo, N.Y. next weekend, April 21, for a 1 p.m. match against the Bulls of the University at Buffalo.
