Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Brad Allen and tennis player Maria Paula Ribero.

Week's Achievements: Allen tossed an absolute gem in a 3-0 victory in game one of a doubleheader against BGSU Saturday, March 25. The righty threw a complete game shutout, only allowing five total baserunners, including just two hits, while striking out six. It was the first complete game of the season for the Eagles, and earned Allen the first win of his EMU career. The win also locked up the series win over the Falcons in the MAC opening weekend.

Week's Achievements: Paula Ribero put together a solid weekend to open Mid-American Conference play, March 24-26. The Bucaramanga, Colombia native dropped just one match, going 2-0 in doubles and 1-1 in singles. She teamed up with Ani Gogvadze at No. 2 doubles to win the MAC opener versus Bowling Green, 6-2, before defeating Akron's Adriana Blinova and Sophia Geier, 6-4. In singles play, Ribero took down BGSU's Ayumi Sasaki, 6-4, 6-4, but fell in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 0-1, to Akron's Karolina Maksimova.
